First of all, I did vote, and I'll leave my actual presidential vote a mystery to be solved by even the most casual observer. My polling place was staffed by kind, elderly folks, and my fellow voters were of varying age groups (though many were also in the older set). It took a while, since voting was particularly popular today, but it was relatively painless and I'd do it again (though three times was enough).
My view of television is remaining largely unchanged as this coverage meanders on through the evening. I like watching Chris Matthews mostly because he always, always, always cuts off Andrea Mitchell and I know she's coming closer and closer just just decking him or telling him off (or both), but this evening is a lot like watching a tape loop of Matthews and Buchannan and Joe Scarborough (who is a super-irritating pain IMHO) running around a track chanting repetative phrases about tape loops. Mixed in there are some numbers, and some pretty colored maps, but all-in-all this is a lot like watching the traditional symbol on your choice of winter gift-giving holidays and waiting for some mysterious character to drop by with some gifts. Or maybe like watching water boil, since that will actually happen eventually.
It does look like the number of law suits that get filed in the morning will be small. I guess Ohio is looking a little like lawyer city at the moment, but maybe they've made another quantum leap toward getting a few million checkmarks counted correctly.
By the way, I didn't get a receipt when I voted, so even though I may have voted for one particular presidential candidate, I have no idea where my vote ended up. Maybe Amex should run our polling centers.
